How to deduce group number from ionisation energy values?

By looking at ionisation energy large gap, you can identify the group number. If the large gap of Iionisation energy is between 4th and 5th electron, the group number is 4th similarly if the large gap of Ionisation energy is between 5th and 6th electron than group number is 5.

For Example in below graph, you can see large gap of ionisation energy is between 3rd and 4th electron. Hence these values belong to 3rd group element.
